Vineyards: Estate own vineyards.Alluvium soils from de Duero River. Average age of vineyard: 15 - 25 years old.Altitude: 800–900 m.
Viticulture: Hand picked vineyards. Organic Certified farming. As of 2015, Torremilanos estate obtained ¨Demeter” certification as biodynamic producers.
Wine making process: Maceration of destemmed grapes during 5 to 7 days. Temperature control during fermentation in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts. After malolactic fermentation, the different tanks are blended before the oak ageing.Ageing of 4 months in French and American oak (225 l. barrels manufactured in our in-house cooperage). Wine certified organic as well as biodynamic (Demeter).
Tasting notes:
Montecastrillo is the entry level wine of Finca Torremilanos made from our younger vineyards. Wine of beautiful dark color with red and purple notes. Intense notes of red fruits, red licorice and spice. Light body in the mouth with fruit and soft tannins.
